The Weekly Standard is reporting that the President will go on ABC News tonight and express his solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street protesters. Considering the large amount of support from unions and Congressional Democrats, I’m not surprised by this fact, but I am disappointed. While I empathize with protestors and their shared financial turmoil, OWS cannot convey a unified message about what it seeks to achieve. As more and more sentiments of protestors are published, they range from wanting an affordable mortgage to a complete overhaul of our economic system. It appears their only shared goal is a correction to what they perceive to be “economic injustice”.

I’m glad to see that others in our government are concerned about the liability of the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund. I have been saying it for a long time that the taxpayer faces huge risks because of the poor capitalization of the Cat Fund. Considering the insurance market in Florida, I understand why legislators want to assist in providing catastrophic coverage, BUT it must be done in a sound way that insulates taxpayers.
